The Bernardine Gardens
The Bernardine Gardens are located close to the Bernardine Monks Basilica. Formerly the monks maintained a homestead in this area. They were gardening, engaged with floriculture and tended to vegetables. Because of that they had their own crops and they could feed the poor and receive guests. The gardens were closed down by the people’s government and on the premises a huge car park was built, which was used also as a place for picnics, racing and competitions. Years later the Bernardine monks regained their former domain and created the Bernardine Gardens. They became a place of rest for the citizens and during the summertime the Summer Outdoor Cinema holds its film shows there. Under the gardens an underground car park is located.
