The Castle Bridge
The Castle Bridge over the Wisłok river connects the city centre with the neighbourhoods on the eastern riverside. It was built in 2002 and it owes its name to Lubomirski Castle which is close by. The bridge has five spans. The construction is made from reinforced concrete and it is 172 metres long and around 21 metres wide. It can hold 4 tons. For building it, it was necessary to adjust the riverbed, as well as to improve the energy and sanitary infrastructures of the city. The Castle Bridge and the Castle Trail received the title of “The Engineer Design of the Year” in 2002. The traffic in the city was eased thanks to the construction of the bridge.
