The County Museum in Rzeszow
District Museum in Rzeszow is located on the representative city promenade - the 3rd May Street – in a historic, 17th century building, the old monastery of the Piarist fathers. This edifice is one part of the all old Piarist complex, the others elements are: church of Saint Cross and old Piarist College – monastery men's school (at present I High School). Adapted for the District Museum needs edifice with precious, baroque polychromes in the ground floor cloisters from first half of the 18th century and unique set of paintings from the end of of the 17 th century in the monastery refectory and old pharmacy gives a special atmosphere and beauty to this institution. In the museum are presented themed exhibitions in the field of art, history and archeology. Among them a special attention deserve a Gallery of Polish Painting presents works of the most outstandings polish artists and unique the Gallery of European Painting. Furthermore in the museum you can see interesting the Artistic Craft Gallery, and also archeological exhibition showing prehistory of the south-easthern Poland and historical exhibition entitled „The Polish Soldier 1914 – 1945”.
